Commentaire descriptif

This gentle story about a young boy who follows the slow, steady growth of a tree, introduces readers to the seasons and shows how nature shifts and adapts to the changes that take place each year. The text is short and poetic, inviting readers themselves to plant a seed and witness its gradual transformation into a plant: “If you hold a seed,And make a wish,And plant it in the ground…Something magical can happen.” Illustrations have a unique textured quality, created through the use of cut-out drawings that are layered and photographed. Striking background lighting effects recreate seasonal skies that range from the stormy greys of spring to the golden glow of autumn. In one scene, the boy stands in slurry mud, patiently waiting for his seed to grow, protected from the misty drizzle by his translucent umbrella. Perfect for learning about the growth cycle of plants and the seasons, this story also includes a lesson on patience, and how great changes can happen over time.
