Think about this: What do you do when you get bonked on the head?
Grumpy Bird, Pete the Cat and His Magic Sunglasses
In this charming sequel to Grumpy Bird, Bird and Raccoon are enjoying a game of catch, when Bird gets bonked on the head and begins to cry. Thus begins their quest to try to find someone to heal his boo-boo. Bright double-page spreads using ink and digital media recreate the simple shapes of the well-meaning forest friends who try to comfort him with a kiss, a hug, a cookie and a Band-Aid. In one comical scene, after Sheep suggests a game of hide-and-seek to appease him, Bird goes ballistic: “You want me to hide? … I CAN HARDLY WALK!!!” Such key moments, focusing on Bird's incessant crying and complaining, are mirrored through playfully exaggerated font that will strike a chord with very young children who might remember some of their own tantrums. Readers will get a kick out of the inconsolable hero who eventually snaps out of his crying fit only to get bonked on the head again.
