Commentaire descriptif

There are all sorts of bicycles in the world and many reasons for using them. Grandma Rose cycles to market to sell her milk because “It’s easier to carry heavy things on a bike.” Kenyan boys hop a taxi-bike across the river to get home from school. Tomasa uses hers to spin thread for weaving. One of a series of four books published in association with Oxfam, this informative, appealing collection of vibrant photographs depicts people from Vietnam, Australia, Guatemala and elsewhere, and uses large font, straightforward text and a familiar topic to introduce readers to the commonalities of diverse cultures. Colourful dialogue bubbles below the main text of each double-page spread give the characters a unique voice and help extend the narrative. The book ends with a simple world map identifying the country of origin of every character that makes an appearance.
