Yo! Yes?, Step Outside, Dream: A Tale of Wonder, Wisdom, & Wishes
An excellent read-aloud for young and old alike, this heartwarming tale points out some of life’s vast possibilities – “The world is immense.Take a good look aroundand decide what makes sense” – and is reminiscent of the Dr. Seuss classic, Oh, the Places You’ll Go! Especially, it would make an upbeat read for those headed off to a graduation of any kind, from elementary school on up. Its light-hearted rhyme and simple, colourful illustrations depicting anthropomorphic creatures (hanging from red balloons or hanging out in the desert with friends) remind readers that no matter what their choices in life – adventurer or homebody, science or art lover, social butterfly or more of a loner – it is important to enjoy the journey. In one particularly humorous scene, a wisdom-seeking Holstein cow is seated in the lotus position, chanting “oom.” Told with gentle wit and intended to inspire, the book affirms that “Whatever you dowhether near or so farI know you’ll be great. You already are.”
