Each letter features a short rhyming verse (“Gymnasium begins with G.We show up there to have P.E.,a class that keeps us toned and trimand teaches us to lose and win”) as well as a lengthier sidebar that provides additional information for more capable readers. The large, detailed illustrations capture the essence of life of school A series of custodians, both male and female, “paint and patch and fix” things, with the ubiquitous hefty set of keys depicted on the side. A crossing guard with a bright yellow coat and large blue umbrella helps children cross the street on a rainy day. The book finishes with a simple short quiz, the answers to which can be found throughout the book.
